alexander r. taylor | raison d’etre extended through oct. 31

BENSON – the little gallery is pleased to host Raison d’Etre by Alexander R. Taylor during the months of September and October. The exhibition opened Sept. 4 and has been extended through Oct. 31, 2026. New work will be added in October.

Taylor works primarily with acrylic paints and markers, colored pencils, ink pens and markers. His artwork amalgamates the past and present. “I think of my art as a subversive approach to standardization, one that walks a fine line between figurative and stylized works of art,” he said.

Taylor first received art training as a child from his father, an illustrator. Throughout primary and secondary school, he enrolled in every art class available. In his early 20s, Taylor was accepted as a student at the Art Institute of Chicago. His training encompasses both formal and self-taught disciplines.

Taylor is an autistic egalitarian who lives in Omaha. He manages Bipolar 1 Disorder with medication and the support of a clinical psychologist, therapist and primary physician.

Raison d’etre runs through Oct. 31 at the little gallery on the lower level of Ming Toy Gallery, 6066 Maple Street in downtown Benson. Regular hours are Wednesday and Friday from 1:00 to 6:00pm, Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00pm, Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm and by appointment (call or text 402.681.1901).
