Lew Lunbeck | Seeing Greatness + Kicking It in The Teeth

BENSON - Ming Toy Gallery is pleased to host the work of Lew Lunbeck during the month of August. "Seeing Greatness + Kicking It in The Teeth" opens Friday, Aug. 2, with a reception from 6:00 to 9:00pm at 6066 Maple Street in conjunction with Benson First Friday. The event is free and open to the public.

The exhibition showcases paintings, repurposed objects, sculpture and toys spanning 2016 to present day. Lew's post impressionistic paintings revolve around dreamlike characters in imaginative places, a sense of style he developed while traveling as a self-described vagabond.

He views his "trash art" as an experimental period, expressing form by transforming objects through melting, ripping, pulling and glueing. In recent years, the artist has focused on making toys as nofunctiontoys, an outlet that allows him to express ideas that can't be replicated on canvas.

Lew and his dog, Quasar, live and create in Omaha. His art is continuously refining itself. Find him on Instagram as nofunctiontoys.

"Seeing Greatness and Kicking It in The Teeth" runs through Aug. 31 at Ming Toy Gallery. Regular gallery hours are:

Wednesday and Friday | Noon to 5pm
Thursday | 4 to 8pm
Saturday | 9am to 1pm
