Welcome, Clarissa!

Clarissa Weitzel

BROWNVILLE - The Brownville Education Center for the Arts and Humanities (BECAH) has hired Clarissa Weitzel as its inaugural intern. Clarissa, a recent graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, will focus on inventorying BECAH’s collection of Bill Farmer art. She will begin her part-time duties in July.

When BECAH acquired the Brownville building housing the former Antiquarium Bookstore and its contents in 2021, it included a sizeable collection of Farmer’s paintings, sketches and other works in addition to its more than 25,000 books, manuscripts and images.

“I’m very excited to get started on this project,” Clarissa said. “I feel honored that I get to be a part of it and have the opportunity to help bring Bill Farmer’s work to more people.”

Clarissa, who hails from Treynor, Iowa, received her bachelor of fine arts in May with 3D and K-12 art education concentrations and an art history minor. She currently serves as a senior gallery assistant at the UNO Art Gallery and is also interning at Dennison Pottery in Omaha.

Once the inventory has been completed, the collection will be valued, then sales of the work will begin. All sales will benefit BECAH, a 501c3 nonprofit. For more information, call 402.681.1901 or email BECAHinfo@gmail.com.
