finn young | prophetic dreams opens july 3

BENSON – the little gallery, located on the lower level of Ming Toy Gallery, is pleased to host “Prophetic Dreams” during the month of July. The opening reception is Friday, July 3, from 6:00 to 9:00pm at 6066 Maple Street in downtown Benson.

Young, a multidisciplinary artist from Omaha, grew up making art and experimenting with a wide variety of media. Their work deals with themes of complicated emotions, connections with other people, connections with the Earth and nature, mysticism and recounting their personal life experiences.

“‘Prophetic Dreams’ explores the relationship we have with ourselves throughout the different experiences in our lifetimes,” Young said. “The name symbolizes the signs life gives to help forge a path that feels the most authentic to each individual person. When we choose to listen to these hidden messages, we become more connected with ourselves and the world as a whole.”

This fall, Young will be studying painting/drawing and textiles at the Art Institute of Chicago. They and Omaha artist Alyssa Schmitt will host a fashion show featuring their designs Thursday, July 23, at the gallery. Details will be provided at a later date.

“Prophetic Dreams” runs through July 25 at the little gallery. Regular gallery hours are Wednesday and Friday from 1:00 to 6:00pm, Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00pm, Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm and by appointment (call or text 402.681.1901).
