BENSON – the little gallery is pleased to host “Embellished” by Amy Morris during the month of November. The opening reception is Friday, Nov. 6, from 6:00 to 9:00pm at 6066 Maple Street on the lower level of Ming Toy Gallery. (We’re right between Au Courant and Legend Comics and Coffee.)
This pottery exhibition features functional bowls, cups and vases adorned with floral decoration that has been customized to each shape. Glaze colors range from an all-over white to multi-colored and lend a rustic feel to the pieces.
Morris is Interim Associate Dean of the UNO College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media and Director of its School of the Arts. She also holds the Michael Bruce Jones M.D. Chair in the School of the Arts.
A native of Akron, Ohio, Morris received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in art history from Kent State University and her Ph.D. from Indiana University. Her research interests include 15th century German art, indulgence altarpieces, Magdaline imagery in art and artistic self-awareness.
“Embellished” runs through Nov. 28. Regular gallery hours are Wednesday and Friday from 1:00 to 6:00pm, Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00pm, Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm and by appointment (call or text 402.681.1901).
